Medication: Valium is an anti- anxiety medication which can help to relax you during the procedure. Local anesthetic (novacaine) will get the area numb so you will not feel any pain.

Novacaine alone: will prevent pain, and with prior topical you won't have pain from the Novocain (procaine) injection. Valium has a half-life the same as your age, has no analgesic effects.
