Stop smoking: If he is still smoking, you should encourage him to stop. If he is on oxygen therapy, help him to be compliant with it. Take his bronchodilators as it prescribed to him and discuss with his doctor if he is a candidate for pulmonary rehabilitation.

Stop smoking: First remove the cause by stopping smoking. Get on medications that improve breathing. Keep clear of second hand smoke and dusty environments. Wash your hands frequently to prevent infection and make sure he gets his vaccines.
