Possible: If blood sugars are not controlled and are high you have diabetes. Complications usually come from uncontrolled diabetes. Uncontrolled diabetes does not usually come from complications. If your blood sugars are out of control it is a problem and you should seek help right away!

Yes: Higher sugars over longer periods of time increase risk of all complications of diabetes. Strict control proven to reduce risk no concentrated sweet diet critical, and meds as needed, ideally ones that don't cause hypoglycemia or weight gain see diabetes specialist.
