Many cause: First, take a home pregnancy test. Assuming not pregnant, most common reason is from hormonal dysfunction. There are other reasons, such as infection, polyps, fibroids, medication affects, precancerous or even (much less likely) cancerous conditions. If the irregular bleeding continues, recommend seeing ob/gyn.
