Big toe numbness: Could be auto-immune collagen vascular or rheumatological condition such as gout, or a lumbar radiculopathy affecting that part of the foot (from the lumbar disc).

Some thoughts: A key point your doctor will want to know is if this is happening in both big toes or just one. If you're getting numbness in both toes, then you will likely be tested for things like diabetes, anemia, thyroid function, lead, and certain infections. If it's just happening in one toe, sometimes this can be caused by trauma or compression of a superficial nerve. Hope this helps!
