Non-op 1st: An orthopedic doctor would recommend activity modification/rest, tylenol, (acetaminophen) nsaid's, and rotator cuff strengthening exercises initially. These excercies can be done at home or under the direction of a physical therapist. Sometimes a cortisone injection can help. For the rare patient who fails to improve with this approach, surgery sometimes can be considered.
