16, 17, 18: Ovulation normally occurs approximately 14 days prior to the next menstrual cycle. With your 31 day cycle you probably ovulating around days 16, 17 or 18 of the cycle. Starting intercourse approximately on day 15 every other day for four times will probably cover ovulation.
