Heart failure: Postpartum cardiomyopathy (ppcm) is heart failure secondary to left ventricular systolic dysfunction toward the end of pregnancy or in the months after delivery, in the absence of any other cause of heart failure. Ppcm is a diagnosis of exclusion.
