Is it safe to wear contacts while in the ocean?

Contacts in ocean: Safe yes, smart no. Unless you don't mind losing a contact, best not to wear when you could be splashed in the face / eye. Probably best to take contacts out, if you are going to be exposed to water. Why take the chance of losing your contacts?
