A member asked:

How long before the symptoms of pink eye start until you actually get infected?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on the cause: Pink eye is a term used to describe a red irritated eye. This can result from viruses, allergies, bacterial and irritants such as chemicals. To know when the symptoms start, we have to know the cause. For viruses and bacteria, it can be anywhere from 1-7 days post exposure (or longer depending on the organism).
