Up to 7 weeks: Progesterone supplementation can be stopped in most women after 7 weeks of pregnancy.

Which progesterone?: You can take Progesterone through the entire pregnancy, but its seldom useful after the 12th week. There is a preparation called 17-hydroxy-progesterone (17-ohp) that is often called 'progesterone, ' leading to confusion. 17-ohp is given in the second and even third trimesters to reduce early delivery - they're not the same drug or for the same purpose.

A 38-year-old member asked:

Would I get pregnant with progestron level 1.2?

Dr. Peter Horvath

Not sure what U mean: Progesterone levels are generally low (< 1-2 ng/ml) in the first half of the cycle (b4 ovulation), rise at ovulation (~2-3 ng/ml) and continue to rise in the 2nd half (up to 10 or even 20 ng/ml). Usually in pregnancy levels are ideally at least 15 ng/ml. So.. A level of 1.2 probably means your are somewhere in the 1st half of the cycle, or about to get your next bleed. Hope that answers it 4u.

A 30-year-old female asked:

If progesterone is low is it unlikely to get pregnant?

Depends: The Progesterone level peaks about a week after ovulation. If the Progesterone is low a week after you think you ovulated the chances are very low. However, if you ovulated very late your Progesterone will rise that much later. In that case it is possible to be pregnant even with a very low progesterone.
