Suppresses prolactin: Bromocriptine is used in women with high prolactin levels to restore normal menstrual cycles. It improves pituitary production of FSH and allows normal ovulation.

Ovulation may occur: Bromocriptine is used to lower abnormally high prolactin levels. Elevated prolactin levels can interfere with ovulation. This drug stops the overproduction of prolactin which may allow the ovary to ovulate normally.
