It depends: I see two ways to answer your question. The overall number of ectopic pregnancies following a tubal ligation is 7 per 1, 000 procedures (under 1 percent). However, if someone conceives after she has had a tubal ligation, the chance of that pregnancy being ectopic is as high as 50 percent.
