How long will my stomach be swollen after a tubal ligation?

Not long: Incisional swelling last only for a few days, but if it stays red and oozes pus, see your doctor immediately. Whole belly swelling may be related to the bowels, so get checked as soon as possible if you think that it's abnormal.

1 week is normal: It is normal to have your belly be a little swollen or distended after a tubal ligation, especially if you had laparoscopic surgery. During surgery, gas is pumped into your abdomen to inflate it. Sometimes, some of that gas remains in your belly after surgery and can cause some bloating. It should resolve in about a week.
