A member asked:

My friend has lost a lot of blood she is ab negative wht blood types can she accept?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

AB Negative, but: There are other blood types also. Blood type for transfusion is decided by a blood bank, not by the patient. A patient has the right to refuse blood, but they do not choose what blood type to receive. Blood banks make that determination based on recipient blood type and presence of antibodies. Finally blood group ab people are universal recipients and receive any ABO type red blood cells.
