Irritant rxn: Unless the material you are using is contaminated by germs, it is unlikely any eye infection is related. Many do get small bits of eyeliner or other makeup into the sensitive spaces around the eye (folds of the conjunctiva) this can cause swelling & redness that is irritant based rather than infective. Generous use of eye wash or artificial tears can remove the debris & help the irritation fade.
