It may: Alcohol could dry your retainer out, causing it not to fit properly. The alcohol may interact with the acrylic from which the retainer is made, causing it to become brittle. If you drink with your retainer in, take the retainer out. Just make sure you store your retainer properly when you don't have it in your mouth. Keep it moist and away from any heat source.

Possibly: The acrylic can be damaged with prolonged exposure. Soap and water is a better choice for cleaning your retainer.

Yes: I would refrain from cleaning your retainer with alcohol or products that have alcohol as an ingredient. If you're inquiring about alcoholic beverages then the possibility exists that continued consumption of alcohol containing beverages may negatively affect the device.

No: The materials used to make retainers are not sensitive to alcohol. To clean your retainer, use a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water, soak the retainer in the solution during the day. This will loosen the tarter built up on the retainer so your toothbrush can remove it.

Not a good idea: If your talking about occasionally having an alcoholic beverage while wearing retainer, not a problem. Alcohol should not be used to clean acrylic retainers, however, as the alcohol may desiccate the plastic.
