Is dental work ok while pregnant?

If its elective : Treatment, then better to wait. If it's necessary that it be performed as soon as possible - example root canal, then it should be fine. The pain meds will probably be tylenol (acetaminophen) versus something of prescription strength. But always consult with your ob/gyn and your dentist.

Yes: Make sure your dentist uses local anesthetic without any epinephrine. However, try to delay any dental work until after pregnancy unless it is an emergency.

Pregnancy: A routine cleaning and exam can certainly be done during pregnancy. Any other procedure can be delayed until after the child birth. However, if you have an emergency, it is safe to have dental work done.I.E root canal treatment.

All Safe: The only contraindications for dental work during pregnancy is the use of nitrous oxide. It is recommended that you have the procedures completed during your second trimester.
