NO: A lumpectomy means removing a breast lump or a lesion that is seen on mammogram or breast ultrasound. Commonly it is referred to removal of a cancerous lump but the term lumpectomy does not necessarily mean removal of cancer. It does not include removal of the chest wall muscle(s).

Generally not: Lumpectomy for breast cancer is a surgical procedure to remove a small breast cancer and some surrounding normal healthy tissue to be sure the tumor is gone. Generally chest wall muscle is not removed unless the tumor is attached to the muscle.
