Herpes not in throat: Herpes almost never affects the throat. Almost always on the outer or inside of the lips or inside of the cheeks. If its your throat, it ain't herpes. It also looks like many small canker sores, or one large cold sore, not a redness in the throat, or swollen tonsils.

Although: Classical first episode oral herpes should be easily distinguished from strep by the numerous ulcers in and around the mouth, in adolescents the herpetic process can be posterior and look like strep.
