Earache: May not be in ear canal but in middle ear. See pcp/ent for examination & treatment. Nsaid may help reduce inflammation & better ease pain than Acetaminophen or narcotic. Keep q-tips/pencils/etc out of ear canal!

Earache: Although we refrain from antibiotic usage on ear infections in older children and adults, you maybe the exception. I think you need your doctor to prescribe antibiotics since pain has persisted after having taken pain medications and ear drops.

Ear infection: If you have not been using qtips in your ear for wax removal it is a middle ear infection with pressure building up. You need to see pcp as an emergency visit now. If you have been cleaning , you may have caused an infection in canal and may have left part of the qtip in your canal and started a severe infection which now involves drum and middle ear like i saw about 6 wks ago! get to pcp now!
