Take online away: 5 years olds should be playing outside, be physically active, and have lots of different kinds of games. Some online or mobile phone games may be part of that, but this is far too young to be spending so much time that you feel he is "addicted." parental supervision is key - tie any use of computer to completion of other "tasks" - playing outside, chores, good behavior. Block online game sites.

Gaming addiction: Children, like adults, can display addictive personalities. They have yet to master self-control at a significant level. That's why we have parents to serve as external controls. Simply put, you provide the electricity, hardware & internet for that computer. If you need to eliminate your internet access for 90 days, it's worth the inconvenience. Find activities in the community.

See aap.Org for more tips. First explain the new rules to your son. Take the tv & video games out of his bedroom. Make a chart for daily chores, , homework, & activities for which he can earn 15 minutes of tv/ game time up to the max.
