Toe noise: As long as there is no pain or deformity with the toe it can be normal to crack. The ankle hurting is something that should be looked at by an orthopaedic surgeon.

I would recommend: You see a foot doc to have it x-rayed and evaluated. If you don;t already have one I am in forest hills, right next to you. I am sure we will be able to figure out your problem and come up with a treatment plan for you.
