Fibromyalgia: Cause unknown in most cases, but heredity is not reported as etiology. Possible triggers are physical/emotional traumas, sleep problems, infection.

Yes: Heredity explained by joint hypermobility syndrome (jhs), mostly female inherited connective tissue elasticity variant. I believe this mostly female conserved trait potentiates pelvic girdle expansion & easier fetal passage in birth canal. I have seen occasional male with manifest jhs. They make great gymnasts & cheerleaders. Jhs highly associated with fibromyalgia (chronic pain at quora.Com).
