Good question.: Fatigue is inability or sense of inability to initiate or maintain activity. This is quite different from being tired or sleepy or weak although these symptoms may present at the same time. Most people with chronic fatigue have a psychiatric diagnosis, but acute fatigue is more likely medical and is associated with inflammatory, infectious and neoplastic processes.
