Yes: There are several infectious and non-infectious causes of pleurisy. Depending on the underlying cause and its severity, it can also progress from one side to the other in the same patient. Whether a patient with pleurisy is contagious for others will depend on the fact that whether the underlying cause/primary disease process is due to an infectious organism that can easily spread through air.
