Not typically: Seeing shadows or movement out of the corner of the eye is common. The explanations for this phenomenon vary a great deal. Some of these experiences are more likely to occur when one is sleep deprived or is under the influence of a stimulant drug. Because depression is often associated with insomnia, which can lead to sleep deprivation, one could experience an increase in these visual phenomena.

Yes.: Untreated or severe depression can lead to psychosis or breaks from reality where you may develop hallucinations. If truly depressed, in many cases, once treated the symptoms resolve.
