1920s: Not definitive but the earliest reference i've found from googling is a german language publication, b. Gottlieb, “die diffuse atrophy DES alveolarknochens, ” zeitschrift fur stomatologie, vol. 21, p. 195, 1923.

Name changes: Juvenile periodontitis which used to be called periodontosis and is now called aggressive periodontitis is a genetic disease. It is characterised by a cupping out of the bone around the first molars and incisors. Generally several members have the disease and often you seeing an entire group of siblings with this disease. With early diagnosis and proper treatment this disease can be treated.
