Depends on the scar: The scars which are more treatable "at home" are the scars which are raised or elevated, as opposed to depressed scars. Silicone gels and sheets, as well as Mederma flatten scars and reduce redness. Massaging the scar also helps. Steroid injections can help flatten scars. Depressed scars will likely need treatments such as: scar revision, filler injections, subcision, or skin resurfacing.
