It can be: It is possible that pressure was placed on a nerve. This will most likely resolve in 4 to 6 weeks. If it is not improved see a hand surgeon.

See below: Putting too much pressure on a nerve can cause numbness. Usually these symptoms will improve within a day or 2. See your doctor if still having numbness in a week.
