Stiffness: Keeping your hand or wrist in a cast too long can increase the stiffness in your joints, and then make it harder to regain full motion.

Prolonged casting: This may results in unncessary atrophy of the immobilized muscles, a frozen joint, hygiene or skin problems.

Hand cast: You can also get skin irritation and if yu have arthritic stiff joints as well they can be very problematic.
