A member asked:

Why would an rh-negative person not have a transfusion reaction on the first exposure?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No antibodies: On first exposure, the body doesn't know what that is. An rh- recipient will then develop antibodies so the next time they are exposed to rh+ blood, the antibodies are present and memory cells can make antibodies quickly against the "foreign" blood leading to a transfusion reaction.
