A member asked:

What could happen if an rh negative person were given a blood transfusion of rh positive blood?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibody formation: At the first transfusion, nothing happens, but the person generally makes antibodies to Rh antigen and may have a transfusion reaction at the subsequent transfusion with Rh positive blood. If it is a woman of reproductive age and the baby is Rh positive, the baby may get hemolysis.
