Tough question: Professional ethics is constantly preached, but not always practiced. In my practice, for example, if i get a referral from another dentist for tmj/tmd treatment, it would be ethically wrong on my part to recommend that this patient remain in my office and go the other dentist in the office. A no no. Also, it is ethically wrong on my part to tell a patient to quit taking their meds.

Part 2: There are many "ethical" and "moral" decisions that must be made in a professional office. A male dentist should never work on a female patient unless the assistant is present, for example. You could go to some websites for each state where the ethics issues are often spelled out.
