What is the process to apply for a lung transplant?

Evaluation: First you must be evaluated at a transplant center. You need to talk to your pulmonologist and be referred. Then you go thorough a medical evaluation to see if you indeed need a lung transplant (if it will help you) and if you are medically fit to survive the transplant and the recovery. Those are the first steps.

See below: You need to contact a lung transplant center. They will then start the evaluation for lung transplantation and see if the patient is a good candidate for lung transplantation. The patient can contact the transplant center directly or have the pulmonologist send a referral (usually this is better).
