Education: The ophthamologist is a physician who performs eye surgery and treats all eye diseases and can fit patients for glasses or contact lenses. An optomitrist has been to optometry school not medical school and can fit patients for glasses or contact lenses. They do not have an education to include how to diagnose and treat eye disease or do surgery.
