A member asked:

What is my eye prescription? explain the numbers please

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Translation: Od = right eye; os = left eye; sphere = basic power which is a + or - number; cyl = astigmatism power ; axis = the orientation of the cylinder; add = how much extra for near vision in bifocals; prism = prism power ( not common ) these are the basic numbers - there is no direct correspondence between these and the acuity (20/20 or so). Contact lens prescriptions are different.
