Phlegm: This is something that should be evaluated by your doctor. It can be as minor as allergies or as severe as pneumonia. Your doctor can help you find the answer.

8 long months: You should see a lung specialist. If phlegm is really in your lungs for that long, pneumonia is unlikely to have lingered that long, but pneumonia can occur with the secretions. The question is why. The phlegm may not be from your lungs, and if it is, then it has to be evaluated for conditions like bronchiectases, etc., so infections can be prevented.
