Two possibilities...: If your workouts are vigorous, there is an increased tendency to breathe through your mouth, causing mouth dryness. Normal taste sensation depends on the presence of saliva, so dry mouth can alter taste perception. In extreme exertion, there can also be an increased tendency toward gastric reflux, which can also contribute to a metallic taste in the mouth.
