Most likely benign: The majority of painless lumps on the back of the hand are usually benign. One possibility is a ganglion cyst might have formed. No matter the etiology of the painless lump this should be evaluated by a physician to determine the location of the lump. Some benign masses on the hand may cause weakness or limitations of the joint.
