Brain MRI: Lesion = anything abnormal, usually used to describe a growth (neoplasms). Infarction = stroke or vascular insufficiency or occlusion.

Stroke vs tumor : Infarction is affected area due to lack of blood supply. Lesion can be due to a cancerous or non-cancerous tumor or infection or old scar or even or area affected by a store in the past.
