Good hygiene: Impetigo is a superficial infection of the skin. Typically, an area of the skin is irritated and its barrier function is compromised, allowing skin bacteria to cause an infection. Using antibacterial soaps may help. It is also important to keep existing impetigo lesions covered with a bandage and to wash hands well after touching them.
