Dyspnea: Shortness of breath, or dyspnea, is a feeling of difficult or labored breathing that is out of proportion to the patient's level of physical activity. Someone who has pneumonia or emphysema will often be sob while at rest with associated increased breath rate and heart rate. They also feel anxious because of this.
