It depends...: Depending on the amount of blood, its cause, and other conditions, the blood can resolve in a f a few days to weeks. More severe bleeding such as in a diabetic can take much longer. At times the blood does not fully resolve on its own and will need surgery to remove it. In most cases it goes away quickly. Blood in the vitreous is serious and needs to be followed by and ophthalmologist.
