All vaccines are meant to stimulate an immune response to the infection for which the vaccine is designed...In cholera dead germs are used to be taken orally or injected to create an immune response so if the person were exposed to cholera they would not get it or have a milder case as a result.

None in the US: There is no Cholera Vaccine currently available in the us and it is not recommended by the cdc for most travelers.There are 2 oral vaccines , one from sweden (dukoral) and one from india (shanchol). See the cdc website.www.cdc.gov/travel.
