Midcycle bleeding: Mid cycle bleeding is not uncommon. In women in their 40's it is often due to irregular ovulation, however it can also be caused by fibroid, polyps and rarely cancer, therefore it should be evaluated by an ultrasound and endometrial evaluation by your gynecologist.
