joint bone defect: Small area of bone necrosis(death) or area that did not properly develop. It happens in a joint. Most commonly in the knee, hip, elbow and ankle. Can happen incidentally or a result of trauma. Can break free and cause significant problems in that joint. Requires attention from orthopedic surgeon.
