How can you prevent athletes foot, or warts, at the gym?

Prevention: Keep your feet dry and well-ventilated. If showering at the gym, wear flip flops in the shower , and stand on a towel while dressing. Warts are unlikely. Athlete's foot can still be a problem, but these are some preventive steps.

Be careful: Do not go barefoot in common areas! bring a pair of flip flops for areas around the pool and for the bathroom if you shower there. It also helps to keep your feet as dry as possible as both skin conditions prefer moist environments. If you work out frequently, allow your shoes to dry thoroughly before going to the gym again or have an alternating pair.

Shower shoes: The familiar "flip flops" will protect you from new infections, and protect others from any nasty stuff you may already have. Wearing these is the mark of a gentleman-athlete. Glad you're exercising.
