How did i get bad tooth decay under crown?

Oral hygiene: A crown has a seal around it just like the caulking around you windows. This deteriorates over time and allows bacteria in if your oral hygiene or diet is not adequate.

Plaque causes decay: All decay is the result of inadequate cleaning/removal of plaque. When a dentist fits a crown to your teeth, there is a "margin" or the area where the crown ends and your real tooth begins. If one is not keeping that margin clean, it is very likely that decay can develop...Left uncared for, will continue to advance and compromise the tooth.
