Multiple: The three major systems affected by lead are - the brain, gastrointestinal and hemopoesis (bone marrow and peripheral blood). Bones is another body tissue that can be affected. Brain damage will be manifested with mental retardation of different degree. Gastrointestinal - constipation, if acutely poisoned, vomiting, pain. Blood - anemia.

Lead poisoning: Effects include headaches, brain swelling, damage to peripheral nerves, disorder of balance, altered mental status with easy fatigue, kidney damage. In children, it may be associated with hyperactive behavior and learning problems.
